Ancient Egyptian Cartouches

Image
This week we have been looking at Hieroglyphs and learnt how to write our names in them. We have then begun to design our own cartouches out of clay which we will paint with the paint we made with Miss Furness.

Watch out for these Lost Things!

Image
Giraffes have been enjoying reading Shaun Tan's book, The Lost Thing, which is full of highly-detailed illustrations. We have explored vocabulary with shades of meaning and have written instructions on how to look after the Lost Thing; adverts for the Lost and Found Office; descriptions for labels; not to mention filling in (part of) a thousand page form!   Shades of meaning: Synonyms  Firing up our imaginations to eleven, we are busily writing our own 'Lost Thing' stories. Watch out for news of The Missing Whatsit, A Misplaced Thingamybob and That Abandoned Doodah!

Exciting entry point
