Tremendous Taddy Stars

Image
Our Tremendous Taddy Stars really were tremendous this afternoon. They've been working so hard over the past few months, practising their routine at every opportunity- playtimes, lunchtimes and after school and I couldn't be prouder of how well they performed together today. The girls were a fantastic team and gave it everything. Not only did they smash their routine but they were awarded the 'Sprit of the games' award for their support to the other competitors. It's been a fantastic afternoon and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. A huge thank you to Rachel Limer for all the hard work that she's put in and to Joel for the fabulous team outfits- we looked fantastic!  P.s. I've tried to upload the video of the routine to the blog but it doesn't like it because it's too large!

Meet the author: Matt Oldfield

Image
We welcomed author Matt Oldfield to a Taddington today. He has written between 60 and 70 books which are mostly about football.  His passion and knowledge is about football, which is why he writes about it. He invited the children to share what they are passionate about, encouraging  them to use that as inspiration for their writing.  Matt explained the process of writing a book.  Back in the classroom, we had a writers’ workshop. We started by gathering a list of superstar facts. After that, we chose our ultimate hero moments, describing the setting - atmosphere, weather, sights and sounds; our ultimate hero moment ; and emotion - positive emotion and how we celebrated.  It was brilliant to see how inspired and motivated the children were to write and share their stories. Maybe we have some future authors in our school community. Watch this space!

Lower Plumpton farm

What a fantastic morning the juniors had!  This morning we went on our school trip to Lower Plumpton farm. The children were given the opportunity to explore the farm and see the animals in their different environments.  First we explored the milking parlour to watch the cows being milked. We were shown how they clean the cows teats before putting the clusters on. We watched the milk go through pipes into the dairy where the milk was stored.  We then visited the sheep and the new calf shed.  The children got to meet the baby lambs and feed them. They also got to meet the chicks too!  We then went to visit the young stock where the children got to feed the young heifers!  Finally, to finish off a brilliant trip, the children got to take a seat in the tractor!
