Climbing wall and leavers’ picnic

Image
Today we said goodbye to our Y6s. It was tinged with sadness, but there was much to celebrate. The climbing wall was amazing and everyone thoroughly enjoyed climbing to the top. Mr Handley even had a go! It was great to see so any parents supporting their children on. (None of them were brave enough to give it a go  though.) Once we were back in school, we welcomed all the parents to a picnic on the school field. The Year 6s shared some of their wonderful and often funny memories of their time at Taddington. They were presented with a beautiful yearbook which we hope they will treasure. We will miss you Y6s, but we know you are ready for your next amazing adventure.

Cyclo cross

Thoughts on today's cyclo-cross from the Year 5/6s    The  juniors went  outside and did a course on the field. It was fun because we had a races.   We had a thrilling morning with tight bends and accelerating speed. The races were the fun bit! The coaches were amazing and helped us massively. When we were on the course the people there were really nice to us. They  helped us to get the right sized bike. On the course, I enjoyed the corners where you would go up and round the bank. The juniors enjoyed the races - well I know I did. Before I started the race I was confident that I was going to win the girls award and I did. I was so happy. I had so much fun and I think everyone else who does it will enjoy it too. There were lots of sharp turns which were quite hard to navigate. It was fun because we got to ride a bike at school, which is something you don't normally do.

Outdoor learning

Image
As part of our outdoor learning this week we took part in an alphabet challenge where we had to create something natural using the letters in our names. We weren’t allowed to just collect something so no leaves for the letter l but we had to make something instead. We had a great time making these and some were particularly creative as I’m sure you’ll agree.

Visitors in class today

This afternoon we had some fluffy visitors in the classroom. Mrs Cooper and Miss Furness have been incubating and looking after the chicks which have hatched this week. We couldn’t resist having a little cuddle though as they are adorable.
