Sports ambassadors - Children in Need

Image
Our Sports ambassadors led a special exercise session today to mark Children in Need.  Combining mood boosting moves with a special quiz, it was the perfect way to wake up bodies and brains!

We are scientists. Can you feel the force?

We explored forces by experimenting, exploring and discovering. We set up fair tests, identifying and controlling the variables. Water  resistance We set up an experiment to find the shape with the least water resistance. Air resistance We experimented with different sized parachutes, to see which produced the most air resistance. Pulleys We set up an experiment to see how pulleys can help with lifting loads. Levers We experimented to see what happens when we change the length of the lever.

Magna trip

Giraffes had a brilliant trip  filled with discovery, excitement and wonder on their joint Federation trip  to Magna with Dove Holes and Peak Dale Schools.  We learnt lots of new things and made links with science topics we have explored at school. After a long bus journey, we spent a bit of time letting off steam in the adventure playground. The Big Melt The Big Melt show provided a historical journey of the region's steelmaking heritage. With 4 areas and over 100 exhibits,  there was a lot to discover! FIRE EARTH Making links with our current learning in the classroom. AIR WATER SPACE WORKSHOP We are looking forward to finding out more in our science lessons.
