Juniors Assembly

Image
On Monday the juniors performed their Island Assembly! From the facts and information we have been learning, to the island fashion show, I think we can all agree they did really well and the effort and hard-work they had put into their assembly and their learning really did show! I’m super proud of them all ☺️ Well done juniors!

Investigating cube numbers

Image
In maths, year 5 made cubes out of multi link. Each group chose a number to cube. They soon found out that there just weren’t enough multi link cubes to complete some of the tasks! In the end they managed to make several different cubes.

Remembrance day

Image
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. To mark Remembrance day, we walked down to the cenotaph, arriving just before 11am. Year 6  children did readings including  In Flanders Fields by John Mccrae and The Kohima Epitaph. When you go home, tell them of us and say, For your tomorrow, we gave our today. At 11am, we listened to the last post and held a 2 minute silence. A 6 child laid the wreath and, to finish, we all joined in to sing Kum ba ya.

Fabrics from different islands

Image
In topic this week we have been looking at fabrics that come from different islands. We have looked at Batik from Bali, Calico from Jamaica, Tartan from Scotland, Lamba from Madagascar and Cowichan  Tribe Knitting.  We have had a close look at each of the fabrics in detail and focussed on some of the patterns. Today we got to choose our favourite design and produce our own version on our own piece of fabric!
