  Giraffes have been thinking about Advent: getting ready for Christmas. Advent  is the start of the Christian year. The word  Advent  comes from the Latin 'adventus,' which means 'coming' or 'arrival' to signify the birth of Jesus.  Our Advent calendar is helping us to count down the days. Behind each bauble, there is a Bible verse with part of the Christmas story. We read the verse and we get a chocolate treat too!

Giraffes were surprised  to be offered a job today; they didn’t even know they had applied! Job: monitor the weather Location: Bear Island Length of contract: 6 months Other information:  You can take 1 person with you, but there won’t be anyone else on the island. After finding out a bit more about Bear Island, we tried to weigh up the pros and cons. Would you accept the job? We wrote our responses using conjunctions. The positives outweigh the negatives; therefore, I will accept the job.

  The fudge factory was in operation today as enterprising Giraffes set to work to produce some delicious treats to sell at the Christmas Fair. Resisting eating the delicious-looking ingredients wasn't easy, but we managed it!  Working together, the Giraffes were successful in making 3 types of fudge: chocolate ; cookies and cream ; and rocky road .                                   I wonder w hich is your favourite? The fair, which is being held on Friday 9th December, starts at 2pm. We hope you can join us.
