We have been on the big apparatus this week in PE and had loads of fun climbing and travelling on it.

Tools in forest school

This afternoon the children were introduced to the Bow Saw.  We learnt a ‘tool talk’ which explained how to use and handle the Bow Saw safely and properly. Tool talk, showing how to hold the bow saw. Gloves on our ‘helper hands’. Practising sawing, ensuring good communication and teamwork.  Success!

DNA building challenge

As part of our new topic we worked in house teams to try to build the double helix DNA model. When they are finished we will share the results with you. Here we are planning and starting to make.

What will life be like in the future?

As the introduction to our topic children were asked to come to school dressed as people from the future. There was a great variety of outfits and we had lots of fun talking about them in class.

Festive fun

This morning we have been to church and decorated the Christmas tree. We then had a story and arranged all the characters in the crib whilst we sung carols. It was a fabulous morning and we are all feeling very festive now.

New teachers in Giraffe class

This afternoon we have been presenting work to each other about different aspects of Mayan life and culture. We have worked in groups to research information and then shared this with the rest of the class. Here the girls are teaching us about Mayan glyphs

Super subtraction

Year 5’s have been practising their subtraction skills in Maths this week. Here they are showing us all how it is done.

The Big Frieze

We have looked at The Big Frieze this afternoon and identified any parts of the Bible we recognised. We could have spent all afternoon looking at it!

Friendship bracelets

Today in our collective reflective we made friendship bracelets using wool from the friendship tree. We made the bracelets for our partner to show that we are friends of the woodland and that we care for each other.

Odd sock day

Today we have all worn odd socks to celebrate the start of Anti- bullying week. We are thinking about how we are all unique but all valued.

Bringing History to life

This afternoon we have talked about the Vikings and what Britain was like in 900AD. We each took on a different character from this time period and acted out what might have been happening. We had lots of fun pretending to be Vikings or farmers or monks. This was the first lesson in our new topic about Civilisations.
