The BIG QUIZ

On our BIG QUIZ this morning, the Giraffes have been impressing me again with their recall of the work we have been doing over the past few weeks and even further back too. 

The retrieval grid is part of our weekly homework . The BIG QUIZ is our quick 5-10 minute check-up to see what we can remember from the retrieval grid .This morning we proved that we can remember A LOT!

Welcome to Whitehall

 After arriving at the centre, we dropped off the bags and the bus drove us down to the reservoir. Using our map reading skills we had a lovely walk back to Whitehall. Enjoying a welcome snack break, we listened and watched out for curlews, skylarks, blackbirds, buzzards and crickets.  We spotted many wild flowers too.

Adventurous activity 1: Let's try abseiling

For our first activity, we headed back towards Taddington and the Monsal Trail at Millers Dale - familiar territory for us. We exchanged tales of walking, cycling and pony rides down the trail.  None of us have abseiled before, so we're not quite sure what to expect. We listened carefully before getting our harnesses on.  The instructor checked we were all safely buckled up and ready to go. Hmm...some slightly worried looks.  Here we go. Who's brave enough to go first? The bridge over the River Wye is 80 feet high and the first challenge is to climb over the railings.  We did it!  Now we can relax.
