Division in 3 ways: concrete, pictorial and abstract

Year 5 have been working hard on multiplication and have built up to using a formal written method over the past couple of weeks. We are not moving on the the next part of our learning journey, with division.

We were revisiting prior learning today, recalling the work we did on division in Year 4.

The place value counters and base 10 equipment were used to show the calculation before showing the written method.

Recalling our times tables is going to be very important in this topic.

Here we are  showing one calculation in 3 ways:
