The power of 3: Concrete, pictorial and abstract in maths

In maths, we use the power of 3:  we ask children to show us 3 different ways of solving the problem.

Children can choose to use concrete resources such as place value equipment, pictorial such as bar models and abstract such as the column method.

We are working on addition, so here we are using place value equipment as one of our 3 ways to demonstrate our understanding.
